Vinylholic, founded by POWDER, celebrated its One-Year Anniversary at 33 Avenue B with a capacity crowd of over 400 people throughout the night at its weekly Saturday event.
People were crowding outside to taste the earfood of vinylholic. Now that the major clubs in NYC are being shut down like a geek hitting on a supermodel, maybe now, up-and-coming DJs like POWDER and CORBIN DOOLEY will start to peek out of the shadows and get noticed, but they can't do it without you.
Initially, vinylholic began as a multimedia, graphic design, web development, and music production/dj company. Focus shifted quickly to DJ culture, event promotion and planning, with Powder inviting Derailed partner and producer Corbin Dooley to join and advise vinylholic on its direction.
In September 2000, vinylholic began staging its first event, appropriately titled VINYLHOLIC, at The Gemini Lounge. This event was held every Tuesday through December, with Powder and Corbin Dooley as resident DJs. As awareness built, the vinylholic partners recognized their musical compatibility, conceived, mixed and mastered their first mix CDs, and landed their currently running Saturday night slot at B3 in January of 2001.
Intense viral marketing via phone, email, and hand-to-hand flyering has resulted in a 1200+ person mailing list, a core group of 200 dancing frequenters, and unusually quick name recognition of the brand vinylholic.
